Honeycomb vs Jar Honey
Honeycomb is the absolute rawest form of honey available—untouched by human hands. Jar honey is the same product, extracted for convenience. The choice depends on how you like to eat it.
Raw Honeycomb vs Jar Honey - Overview
Honeycomb is a section of the hive itself. You are eating the wax hexagonal cells built by the bees, filled with honey, pollen, and sometimes propolis. It is a textural experience and a whole food.
Jar honey is extracted from these combs by spinning (centrifuge). We filter out the wax and bees, leaving just the liquid gold. It offers the same nutritional benefits in a more convenient format.

Health Benefits Comparison
Honeycomb Advantages
- Propolis: Often found on the comb, this resin has powerful antibiotic and antifungal properties.
Jar Honey Advantages
- Concentrated Energy: Easier to consume in larger quantities for athletic recovery.
- Versatility: Can be easily mixed into drinks or recipes.
Flavor & Quality Comparison
The Experience Eating honeycomb is an event. As you chew, the wax structure collapses, releasing a burst of honey. The wax remains as a chewy, gum-like substance which carries flavour for longer.
The Convenience Jar honey provides an immediate, smooth flavour release. It dissolves instantly in the mouth or in warm beverages.
Price Comparison
Honeycomb Higher cost per gram. This is because the bees must consume 8kg of honey to produce 1kg of wax. When we sell the comb, we are selling the production infrastructure of the hive.
Jar Honey Our standard premium product. By returning the sticky frames to the hive, bees can refill them immediately without rebuilding, making it more efficient to produce.

- You use honey primarily for sweetening drinks or baking.
Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, beeswax is completely non-toxic and safe for human consumption. It is indigestible but passes through the system harmlessly.
Chew it until the honey flavour is gone. You can then spit it out if you prefer, or simply swallow it. It is entirely a matter of personal preference.
Keep it in a sealed container in the pantry or cupboard. Do not refrigerate, as this will make the wax brittle and the honey candy faster.
